Parker Update

This is going to be a short post, but here it be.

There are new photos of Parker on my Flickr. That's right, that's all this post is. You can find the photos here.

That is all for now.

Wow, it really has been a while

It sure has been a while since I have posted on this family blog, but I have been pretty busy. Quick update since I don't have much time so here we go.

First things first, school is over (at least until the end of this week). I received a B+ in my Anthropology class, an A in my C++ class, an A in my bowling class, and an A in my English class. So far for next semester I am only taking one class (due to stupid pre-requisites that I feel that I totally outshine).

I went up to Montana for Christmas with Tiffany and her family. It was pretty fun, awknowledging that there is nothing to do in Montana. Parker had a good Christmas I think, and he is getting very big. He's getting close to crawling. He is starting to push himself onto his knees, but isn't very coordinated.

There are a bunch of photos on my Flickr account of Parker and myself. New years was a lot of fun because my friend and I made a fairly large fireworks display. On new years day we had family over for a little party which was a lot of fun.

That's it for now I guess. I will try to focus more on putting more stuff on this blog since I won't be as busy.

It's Been a While

10/22/2005
Well I guess that it is time to do a blog entry. It's been quite a long while since I have done one of these, so we will see how this goes. I guess I can start off by telling why I haven't done a blog entry in a long while.

It all started when pesky school started up. It's really been lame because it's been a lot of work, which if you know me I am not partial to. Typically I wake up for school at about 6:30am (with the occasion when I wake up at 9am and skip school altogether) and then go to school until 11:30am or 1:30pm Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday respectively. From there I go to work for Under Par Golf until about 6pm at the store. I then head home and get a bite to eat and work for another 4-5 hours for Under Par.

At this point my Mother and I typically read the Book of Mormon and then we go to bed. Now this isn't the same everyday because some days I do homework as opposed to work, so it's all a delicate balance. This is only Monday-Thursday though, Friday I don't have school so I go to work from 8:30am to 5pm. It's a bit of a break, but not enough I must tell you.

On Friday I pick up Parker to spend time with over the weekend. Parker is a blast, I wouldn't trade the time that I get to spend with him for anything in the world, I just wish I had more time to spend with him. Unfortunately, as much as I like to believe, he isn't much into me doing homework. Usually my weekend is a bit unproductive school wise (though I'm sure blogging isn't too productive either, but meh, it's big news).

So yea, that's a brief overview as to why I have not been blogging lately. Things have just been a bit busy, busier than I thought it woudl be. Parker is getting much bigger, and starting to get to that point where he's almost crawling I guess. . . He is rolling over a bit and starting to be very vocal.

On Sunday I gave a talk on Elder Bednars October 2004 Conference Talk entitled "In the Strength of the Lord". From what I have heard from some Bretheren and Sisters in the ward is that the talk was enjoyable. I am so happy that it went well since the night before at about 8:30pm I did not know as to what I would like to say.

On Sunday, October 30th I will be receiving the Melchezidek Priesthood (which is why I am blogging). I am so excited for this great opportunity in my life. I am also very excited as I will have the opportunity sometime after to bless Parker. It has felt like an eternity to come to this point, but it has only been a about half a year. I look forward to these events with great anticipation and excitement.

Well I must bid adieu for now since I am a bit tired, but I hope that I will be able to update everyone about my doings and happenings more often then just once every big event.

Kids and Substance Abuse

It's a sad time when you find out that your child has been doing drugs. It's even harder when your son is only 4 months old (in 3 days from this posting). I guess that is just how the world is now. Even at a young age , our children are abusing drugs.

I caught my son Parker abusing some growth enhancing drugs. I had noticed that he had been getting bigger, but I would never have dreamt that this was how he was doing it. I always thought he knew better than to mess around with Miracle-Gro. I guess I was wrong.

Please, parents, make sure your children are safe!

Lazy Nights

It's another lazy Friday night at the Kopp house. It's a peaceful scene. Numb3rs was on television, Parker was taking a snooze, and I was blogging about how cell phone users can get a GMail account.

Mischief (aka Kitty) noticed Parker's luxurious slumber and decided to get on the action. She quickly scaled the foot and a half distance between the floor and the couch cushion and assumed a vulnerable position. Life is wonderful.

Less than a minute later there is a blinding flash and the Kitty notices that Darren is holding a camera, it's too dangerous now, time to flee. Kitty absquatulated to an undisclosed location Parker continues un-phased.

Another lazy Friday night at the Kopp house.

End Of Travels

Well looks like it's time to settle down. Everything is a bit more like normal now. I don't believe that I will be traveling anymore, for a little while at least. Montana was fairly fun, though I'm glad that I don't live there. Hopefully I will be able to get the digital versions of the photo's we had done there so I can post them here on the blog.

Even while at home it was busy. Papa Kopp was visiting us while he took care of some business in Utah. He left yesterday back for Las Vegas, and arrived safe and sound a bit over an hour later. It was mighty fun having him here for the last 2 days. It was a bit rushed, but it was great.

We had quite a few good discussions and were able to go out to dinner, take the tour at Temple Square, and spend time reading scriptures and praying as a family. It's too bad the visit was for such a short amount of time.

Family Home Evening

Today for family home evening we began the book of Jacob. Throughout our reading we also would have discussions and the following popped out as a distinct verse in the first chapter.

Jacob 1:19
And we did magnify our office unto the Lord, taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins of the people upon our own heads if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence; wherefore, by laboring with our might their blood might not come upon our garments; otherwise their blood would come upon our garments, and we would not be found spotless at the last day.

This stuck out as my Mom posed the question who would judge at time of judgement. I knew that we would be judged by our current leaders such as Joseph Smith, Gordon B. Hinckley, etc. What I did not know is that it would extend all the way to Nephi and Book Of Mormon prophets. This is due to the fact that we are judged by these words as we are the dispensation for which this book was prepared.

The Book of Mormon prophets were given this task to keep a record of the history and a record of the commandments and revelations of the Lord to teach us, but they are judged by how they strived to keep these records, just like how we are judged to follow them.

Salvation Recap

Today in Priesthood we watched a movie about Parley P Pratt and the Book Of Mormon. The movie showed Parley's following of the promptings of the Holy Ghost to where he found the Book of Mormon.

He was a successful man, had a very good farm, and was on his way to Albany, NY. He felt the promptings of the Holy Ghost and chose to heed them. He ventured 10 miles into the town and met up with a farmer, who had a Book Of Mormon.

Parley began to read the Book of Mormon and found the following:

My soul did delight in the words of the Book of Mormon and the Holy Spirit was wrought on me. Eating and sleeping were a burden on me.

In sunday school we talked about the Work for the Dead (Baptisms for the Dead, Sealings, etc). We talked about how the temple in Nauvoo, IL, was the first temple to offer these sacred ordinances. We mainly focussed on D&C 124, which talks about the revelation of this.

About 4000 saints were able to do work for the dead before the temple was destroyed and the saints were driven from Nauvoo. The saints recognized the great importance of this work, and though I can't remember what temple it was (one soon after), they dedicated certain parts of the temple at a time, the first being a temporary, but carefully crafted baptisimal font out of wood.

House Guest

Looks like we picked up a new house guest this weekend, Benji Kopp is staying with us until His and Laurens house sells. He has received a transfer from his work and starts on Monday. I ended up going to Las Vegas, NV, to drive back up here with Ben.

Theory of Evolution

Though we are not close to the city, I fear that soon Woods Cross will be similar to cities like New York, Chicago, etc. Nature has evolved Parker to extents previously unknown. He already calls "Cabbies" with a quick, wailing whistle to whisk him away at his every whimsy.

First Post

I thought that it would be fitting to begin this blog with a beginning of another kind (or close enough at least). For those who have not heard of Parker, this is Parker Stephen Kopp. He was born on May 13, 2005 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
